He feels that the experience he gained during his Fellowship, definitely helped raise the level of service he is able to offer today. He returned to South Africa in 2011 after accepting a position at Morton and Partners. Willem loves being outdoors, either on a mountain bike, with a camera, overlanding the Southern African Wilderness or scuba diving along the Mozambican Coast or some tropical island.
After completing his medical degree from the University of Pretoria in 2000, Willem opted for a change of scenery and headed the coast to complete his internship and community service.
Working at Manguzi Hospital in rural KZN and interning at Livingstone Hospital in East London, Willem quickly learnt some invaluable lessons working under sometimes difficult circumstances, which he is grateful for to this day. Ready for a new adventure in 2003, Dr Kuys moved to the UK (London and later Cornwall) for three years. Once there he worked in Psychiatry-, Emergency medicine-, General surgery- and Urology Departments, before returning to South Africa to start his Radiology training in KwaZulu Natal. After completing his qualification, Dr Kuys headed off to McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, for a one-year Fellowship in Abdominal and Pelvic Cross-sectional Imaging.He feels that the experience he gained during his Fellowship, definitely helped raise the level of service he is able to offer today.
