IMPAX Tool Guide

1.      WINDOW TOOL

Adjust brightness and contrast. Click on tool (button turns light grey) and click in image once. Move your mouse around until desired window is achieved. Click once to apply.

Some users have this function on their mouse-pointer by default (button is always light grey) and only need to click in the image to use it.

When viewing CT and MRI studies, it is also possible to apply window level presets.  Right click on the window button and a menu will appear. Select the preset you would like to apply with a left click and then left click on the relevant CT / MRI series.

2.       ZOOM TOOL

Zoom and pan images or series to view in greater detail.  Left click on the Zoom button to select it, move the mouse pointer over the image you want to zoom.  Roll in with the scroll button (wheel) on the mouse.  If you don’t have a mouse wheel (laptop) you can use the PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN buttons to zoom.  Once you have zoomed in, the left mouse button will pan (move) the image if you hold it down.

3.      MEASUREMENT TOOL

To measure distance on an image.

Select the drop down menu next to the MARK UP ANNOTATION TOOL.

Select the MARK UP CALIPER tool.  Left click once where you want to start the measurement, move the mouse (do not hold down any buttons) and left click where you want to end the measurement.

Use the blocks at the ends of the line to adjust the measurement slightly by holding and moving the left mouse button.  Pull away the measurement value with the extra block. Right click to finish this measurement and start another.

4.       MARK UP ANGLE

To draw and measure angles in the image.  Select the drop down menu next to the MARK UP ANNOTATION TOOL.

Select the MARK UP ANGLE tool.  Left click once where you want to start drawing the first line, move the mouse (do not hold down any buttons) and left click where you want to end the first line. Now left click where you want to start the next line, move the mouse and left click where you want to end the second line. The angle measurement is now complete. You can adjust the angle measurement – left click and hold on the blocks at the end of each line and move the mouse.  Right click to finish with this angle and to start another one.
