Access to digital images and reports via PACS.

 

Morton & Partners have two platforms for viewing radiology images and reports:
Impax is a client based application that requires an installation of the software by our PACS administrators on your computer.  Users connect to our secure server via a broadband internet connection with a username and password.  This is a Windows based application.  


Xero ( www.mortonmobile.co.za.) is a mobile, zero footprint viewer which is also password protected. This medical viewer is a security-conscious web browser that access images from our servers. It can be used on mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones.

TO USE ANY OF THESE APPLICATIONS YOU MUST AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING:

Security Statement:

  1. It is Morton & Partner’s intention to adhere to all privacy standards set forth by the HPCSA.
  2. The site/application is intended for physician or other healthcare provider use only, who are only allowed to look at patient information when it is needed for their provision of health services to that patient. It is an offense to look at patients’ information that is not under your care.
  3. Authorized users are provided with a username and password to access our software.  You are solely responsible for taking all reasonable steps to ensure that no unauthorized persons have access to your username and password. It is your responsibility to: (1) control the dissemination and use of your username and password; (2) authorize, monitor, and control access to and use of your username and password; and (3) promptly inform Morton & Partners of any need to deactivate a username and password.
  4. The information, reports and images made available are protected health information and every user of our applications is responsible to keep this information confidential. Divulging any information that was obtained on our applications is a serious offence, as well as breach of the confidentiality agreement between the individual and the health care facility. This may result in, but is not limited to, disciplinary hearing, dismissal and criminal charges.
  5. You are solely responsible for any unauthorized disclosure of information or images obtained using your password.
  6. In order to provide you with a secure online experience, you will automatically be logged off this site if there is no activity from your browser for over 20 minutes. To reenter, you will need to log in again, using your username and password. Some users will not be subject to this time constraint due to the need to view images in operating theatres.
  7. To ensure that this service remains available to authorized users, this computer system employs hardware and software programs to monitor network traffic, to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, and to prevent denial of services attacks or other attacks intended to cause damage. Any attempt to modify this resource or associated information other than for instructed use is strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986.
  8. Morton & Partners reserves the right to monitor the usage of this resource. This includes but is not limited to audit trails which will be performed on all information, reports and images accessed.

 

If you are a patient, and you want us to restrict access to your medical information, please inform our staff or contact us. It should be appreciated however, that restricting access in this way may have unintended and detrimental consequences should access to images and reports be needed in an emergency, or outside normal hours.  To restore standard access will require the services of IT staff who may not always be available at those times.
