Dr. Paul Scholtz Awarded Prestigious EDGAR Diploma — A First for Africa
Morton & Partners proudly congratulates Dr. Paul Scholtz on being awarded the ESGAR Diploma in Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (EDGAR) — a rare and highly respected international qualification recognising advanced expertise in abdominal imaging. Dr. Scholtz is the first radiologist in Africa to receive this accolade, joining a select group of specialists worldwide.
Awarded by the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR), the EDGAR diploma reflects a high level of professional experience, academic engagement, and clinical excellence in gastrointestinal and abdominal radiology. It is one of the most rigorous and prestigious benchmarks in the field.
Dr. Scholtz, a Partner at Morton & Partners and a recognised expert in abdominal and pelvic imaging, holds a Fellowship in Abdominal Imaging from the University of Toronto. He is also the current Chairperson of the Oncology Imaging Society of South Africa (OISSA). His clinical interests include hepato-pancreatico-biliary imaging and oncologic imaging, and he has presented research at several international conferences.
Reflecting on the achievement, Dr. Scholtz shared:
“It’s an honour to be the first in Africa to receive the EDGAR diploma. This certification represents years of dedication to gastrointestinal and abdominal radiology, and I hope it helps pave the way for others in our region to pursue international recognition and thought leadership in this field.”
