“I don’t believe in a cannot-do attitude; failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.”
Nico qualified as a Millwright in 1992 and built a strong foundation in mechanical and electrical maintenance, specialising in breakdown response, preventative maintenance, and the optimisation of production machinery across a wide range of industrial environments. His early career included extensive hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, metal forming, plastic injection moulding tools, and component manufacturing.
After completing his National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Nico was appointed as a Mechanical Engineer at UTC Fire & Security, where he spent eight years supporting engineering teams, improving manufacturing processes, coordinating tooling design and modifications, and working closely with local and international equipment suppliers. His role also included training operators, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring high standards of ergonomics, safety, and environmental health. At Morton & Partners, Nico applies this deep technical and project management experience to oversee facilities maintenance and infrastructure projects, ensuring that environments are safe, efficient, compliant, and fit for purpose. His background in Lean principles and Kaizen methodologies supports a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the group.
Outside of work, Nico values time spent with his family above all else. He enjoys camping and outdoor living, and finds balance through short-distance running — a way to clear his mind, stay active, and maintain a healthy, grounded lifestyle.
