Derik attended the University of Stellenbosch, where he completed his medical degree in 2014, with distinction. After completing his internship and community service at Helen Joseph Hospital, he concluded his post-graduate studies at Wits University.
On his return to Cape Town, Derik joined Morton and Partners as an associate in 2022. He will be pursuing a fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Sunnybrook Hospital, University of Toronto in 2024.
Derik enjoys spending leisure time with his wife and friends as well as being active. He is also a sports enthusiast, especially rugby and cricket.
