Recipient of the 2018 CMSA Maurice Weinbren award in Radiology for the publication- The prevalence and radiological findings of pulmonary embolism in HIV-positive patients referred for computed tomography pulmonary angiography in the Western Cape of South Africa.
Raksha obtained her medical degree at Wits University in 2004. She completed her internship at King Edward VIII Hospital in Durban followed by community service at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Gauteng.
She then spent 6 months in A&E at Addington Hospital in preparation for a position as an Emergency Medicine Registrar In Ireland. She left for the Emerald Isle in 2008 together with her husband, with whom she worked with at the Beaumont Hospital in Dublin. This invaluable experience abroad was the start of a career enriched in clinical experience in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. Raksha spent several years gaining experience in clinical medicine often at the helm, in the emergency units at GF Jooste and Groote Schuur Hospital. She gained a wealth of knowledge in HIV and TB medicine continuing to work at the forefront in Internal Medicine at the GF Jooste Hospital. The passion for diagnostic medicine opened the pathway to Radiology speciality training at UCT. Raksha received both her radiology Fellowship and Masters in Medicine (with distinction) from the University of Cape Town in 2018.
Raksha thereafter joined the Morton and Partners family, working first as a locum for almost two years and then officially as an associate in 2023. She looks forward to enhancing her professional development and skill set and hopes to one day further her training.
Raksha enjoys spending treasured time with her family, especially with her very active toddler. She loves travelling and is a rock music fanatic.
